Locally Owned and Operated

A to Z Building Blocks is locally owned by Jody and Brian Zabriskie.  It was established in 2005.

Jody and Brian met in high school and dated for five years before they married.  They both grew up in Utah.

Jody moved to Chicago, Illinois when she was 18 years old to be a nanny.  She worked as a nanny for almost three years.  She did some schooling while she was in Illinois and then came back and finished her schooling in Utah after she married.  Jody has a degree in Early Childhood Education and has been working with children for over 16 years. She owned and taught preschool for four years before opening two child care centers. 

In October of 2010,  Jody was approached by a competitor wanting to know if she was interested in taking over their building.  Jody accepted and moved her small center over to expand into the larger building.  A to Z still has two centers open.  One location caring for all age groups and the other location caring for children that are 3 years through 12 years in age.

Brian and Jody have four children; two girls ages 12 and 10 and two boys ages 7 and 3.  It is challenging at times to run two child care centers and maintain a family of six, but Jody is dedicated to serving children and making a safe place for all children.  She loves her job as a mother and as an owner of these two facilities. 

Brian began his schooling after marriage.  He worked hard to get through school.  We worked fifty hours a week and went to school full time so that he could support his growing family.  He graduated with two children and a wife.   Brian has a degree in Business Management with an emphasis in accounting. 

Brian started his career working in an accounting firm after graduating.  There he did tax accounting and learned a lot about investing.  He moved over to  selling insurance for Prudential Financial.  He decided selling insurance was not his forte’ and decided to make a move to the back end of insurance and continues to work for a software company that creates software for insurance companies. 

Brian has set up all the financials for A to Z Building Blocks and is an active participant by setting financial goals and maintaining budgets.  Brian and Jody do all of their financial accounting themselves and work closely together to develop the best possible financial situations for the company.
